This newest support group for the Santa Barbara Museum of Art is dedicated to interactive events related to Assistant Director and Chief Curator, Eik Kahng’s areas of specialization (primarily 18th, 19th, and early 20th-century European and American art). Events will take the form of mini seminars, accompanied by light refreshments, and in the presence, as often as possible of actual works of art. Activities may include pre-assigned excerpts from 19th-century fiction related to the art works, private movie screenings at the Museum or at members’ homes, group discussions in SBMA galleries, food and wine pairings inspired by works of art, and occasional excursions to area museums with special access to curators and conservators, arranged by Eik.
